Talkin' Nonsense

Sutton Foster and the cast of Anything Goes performing at the 2011 Tony Awards

Sutton is a Goddess of Talent. Imagine belting a note like that after doing a tap routine like that while staying in character the whole time. She makes everything she does seem so easy. On a technical level, there’s is no other star on Broadway like the awesome Sutton Foster.

Enchantment Passing Through by Heather Headley and Adam Pascal from the musical Aida

I don’t know why this song has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days. I guess its my subconscious reminding me that the Manila run of Aida opens next week. I want to watch yet I don’t want to watch. Does that make sense to you? I didn’t think so…

Twenty-Something - Kerrigan & Lowdermilk

“You’re never more perfect when you’re twenty-something” =)

The uber-talented Telly Leung (Glee, Rent, Flower Drum Song, and Pacific Overtures on Broadway) performs My Time Now, the Act I finale from the upcoming Broadway musical Allegiance, at a private event in 2010.

How he can be just a back-up singer on Glee is criminal.

Aaron Tveit singing Run Away With Me from the Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown.

The arrangement gets kind of messed up in the end I think but Aaron is just perfect. I also love how the audience is so quiet and we get to hear the last line even if it’s soft.

In The Heights appreciation post. Corbin Bleu, Marci Harriel and David Del Rio performing “It Won’t Be Long Now” on the Wendy Williams Show. While the original cast will always be special, I think that these three sing better than them. Corbin sings smoother than Lin Manuel-Miranda since Lin is primarily a rapper and Marci has a more weighty belt than Karen Olivo. Karen though, will I think, always be the hottest Vanessa.

Julia Abueva singing Think of Me and Dream A Dream. They should totally mount a Phantom of the Opera and cast her as Christine cause her voice and style is perfect for it. Her rendition of Dream a Dream leaves much to be desired though. She can’t hold a candle to Charlotte Church who sang the song originally. Also, while she is inarguably talented, I hate the way she doesn’t hold her notes. She also comes off as arrogant to me somehow. Don’t get me wrong though, I like her and her work in Repertory Philippines’ Into The Woods was legit.

Light - from the musical Next to Normal

Natalie:
We need some light.
First of all, we need some light.
You can’t sit here in the dark.
And all alone, it’s a sorry sight.
It’s just you and me.
We’ll live, you’ll see.

Dan:
Night after night,
We’d sit and wait for the morning light.
But we’ve waited far too long,
For all that’s wrong to be made right.

Diana:
Day after day,
Wishing all our cares away.
Trying to fight the things we feel,
But some hurts never heal.
Some ghost are never gone,
But we go on,
We still go on.

And you find some way to survive
And you find out you don’t have to be happy at all,
To be happier alive.

Natalie:
Day after day,
Give me clouds, and rain and gray.
Give me pain, if that’s what’s real.

Henry and Natalie:
It’s the price we pay to feel.

Dan and Diana:
The price of love is loss,

Dan:
But still we pay.

Dan and Henry:
We love anyway.

Gabe:
And when the night has finally gone.
And when we see the new day dawn.
We’ll wonder how we wandered for so long, so blind.
The wasted world we thought we knew,
The light will make it look brand new.
So

All:
Let it
Let it
Let it
Let it
Let it
Shine, shine, shine.

Day after day (day after day),
We’ll find the will to find our way.
Knowing that the darkest skies will someday see the sun.

Dan:
When our long night is done,

Dan and Natalie:
There will be light.

Diana:
(There will be light.
There will be light.)

All:
There will be light.
When we open up our light.
Sons and daughters, husbands, wives.
Can fight that fight.
There will be light.
There will be light.
There will be light.
There will be light.

Ariana Grande singing Nothing is too Wonderful to be True from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I love this song and I heart Ariana. She’s insanely gorgeous and talented. truth be told though, her voice gets a little thin sometimes when she belts and adds unnecessary trills(not in this video though, she’s perfect here) but you really can’t deny her amazing skills. =)

This is a Daniela appreciation post.

heymrshesmysister:

“One of the big ones… WITH WINGS!”

“They say he’s got quite a big… taxi.”

“He’s packing a stretch limousine!”

“They’ll call your name and we’ll scream and shout… NINA! NINA!”

“Que se yo?”

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMFG!!! Do you see this Atlantis Productions line-up? 2011 will be an epic year for Philippine theater. At least for me anyway. In the Heights baby! Now if Actor’s Inc. would just restage Once on this Island with the dreamcast of 2005… =))

YAY! Can’t wait for this!!! I’m curious if Markki Stroem can pull off a musical. From what i’ve seen and heard, he has a weak voice and relies on his looks. The others are legit though, love them all. Felix Rivera seems to be in every theater production for the past 2 years don’t you think? What happened to Audi Gemora though? I thought he was going to play Dan…
